18 minutes! 18 minutes! You are all too much! This has been such an incredible day for all of us!

To me, games have always been about the stories they tell. Win or lose, I like to see the story. I like to see what we accomplished or, as the case may be, what we narrowly failed to accomplish. Mechanics are a stepping stone to the story. Oath really delivers on this promise of telling a story throughout the game.

At conventions, folks would often tell us about their Oath campaigns. Some of the people would pull out 10, 20, and in some cases 50 session journals to show us everything they had accomplished during their Chronicle. This effort will always be stunning to me. We know we have something special and that we have a responsibility to continue supporting it.

The studio these days is a very busy place. We have a lot of active projects and, for that reason, we had to try something different with this project. We didn’t want it to pull resources from any of our other games, so the team working on Oath had to find new ways of building a campaign. Though we are only at the start of this campaign, I want to recognize them individually for their hard work. None of this would have been possible without them.

Cole Wehrle - After completing Arcs there was not a lot of time to get this project ready. Cole had been drafting ideas throughout the last year. In the last few months Cole was able to weave together these ideas into one coherent piece. He worked many long hours over the past few weeks. I really enjoy the way he is using new piece types to help the players navigate the Chronicle. Thank you Cole! I never thought I would play a game like Oath, not only did you make it possible, you expanded that joy!

Kyle Ferrin - He has done a few pieces for the project already. I am amazed at this ability to bring us back to the world of Oath as if no time had passed. He is so deft at his craft. Thank you Kyle!

Clay Capra and Andrea Francisco - They were working on expanding Oath long before we thought it was feasible. They have been cooking up denizens and edifice cards for over a year. Thank you Clay and Andrea!

Megan Ganey - Just came onto the team just two months ago. As a graphic designer she was tasked with helping build the Kickstarter page. She has risen to the occasion with aplomb! It is a great looking page! Thank you Megan!

Matt Martens - Matt also hasn’t been here long! Matt produced the wonderful KS video. If you have not watched the video I recommend you check it out. Thank you Matt!

Brooke Nelson - Helped us by building the marketing strategy and the schedule for the Kickstarter. She has handled this with her other duties with grace and a lot of patience for me. Thank you Brooke!

Ted Caya - Ted keeps an eye on the  money. He and I both looked at the worst, middle, and best case scenarios for each campaign and figured out what milestones we need to hit. Ted pulled the numbers together for me this time, showing the viability of making an Oath expansion and has done amazing work building a business plan for the game that gives the creative team as much freedom as possible. Thanks Ted!

Liz Davidson and Ricky Royal - Have been hard at work on the solo mode. I was able to see it in action at PAXU and you should all be excited about it. Thanks Liz and Ricky!

The backers - And of course you the backers. None of this would happen without you all supporting us. The impact you have had on mine life is immeasurable. Thank you backers from the bottom of my heart.

Working at the studio has been a rich and fulfilling experience lately. Within the last few months, we finished Arcs–our largest project to date. We also launched and completed a brand new Ahoy expansion that contains some of the best asymmetric design work we’ve ever done at the studio. Somehow, while those projects were underway, we’ve also planned a massive presence at Gen Con for the launch of Arcs and have a record number of early-stage designs in progress at the studio, including some new Root factions. And, as if that were not enough, we’ve added new members to our staff and have brought more folks than ever into the design process. The studio has never felt so vibrant. I feel so honored to work with this wonderful team, and I’m so excited for you all to see what we have in store.

Thank you again for all of your generous support. I’ll be handing things over to the Oath-team for the next update where they’ll write more about some of the events you can all look forward to during the campaign.

As always if you have any questions, please contact [email protected].

Be good and stay safe!
